About

Hello!  My name is Naomi and I’m a book reviewer and librarian living in southern Ontario.  I’m married to an English teacher and our two young children like stories as much as we do. After the kids go to bed, I can usually be found on the couch with a good book and a cup of tea.  I prefer to read literary and well-written contemporary fiction with a strong focus on character development or setting, and I love quirky writing.  Favourite authors include Jessica Grant, Penelope Lively, Carol Shields, Helen Simonsen, Miriam Toews, Joanna Trollope and Jane Urquhart.  Sometimes I read non-fiction, and when I do, it tends to reflect my interests in words, people, and the world we live in.  On Thursdays, I share the best of what I have been reading, and periodically I post about other things, usually relating to home and family.  I always welcome comments and will respond within a day or two.

I love reading and tea, as well. Usually, I have a cup of jasmine green. It got me thinking that maybe we should “match” our teas to what we’re reading, such as Earl Grey for a mystery or Lemon tea for a historical novel. Just started the Alan Bradley book based on your review, and so far I’m really enjoying it. Thanks for your posts!

Thanks for writing such a nice comment! I’m glad you’re enjoying the Bradley book. It’s one I’d heard about since it was first published, and put off reading because I don’t typically enjoy mysteries. I picked it up last week and really loved it, so I put it on the blog. Good to know that someone else out there enjoyed it as much as I did.

And I like your tea-matching idea. The book I’m reading right now takes place in Paris, so maybe I’ll try an herbal pear tisane, which is what all the kids in my French dorm drank when they were in a tea mood…
